Your Assembly Rooms Needs You!
The Urgent News:
Our recent rejection by Awards for All Lottery has left Mid Border Arts in dire financial need. We face the serious prospect of having to close the venue unless we can raise £8,000 a year to cover our financial shortfall.
Since 2022, when we lost regular grant funding, MBA has operated at a loss of approximately £8,000 a year. This is due to rising rent and utilities, the ongoing financial burden of maintaining a venue in town, the narrowing of grant opportunities for organisations versus projects, and our commitment to keeping ticket prices low.
Most of our events make only a modest profit, and we have depleted our reserves. In order to keep operating and providing quality programmes, we need significant support.

The Better News:
In the meantime, we have a full and exciting programme of events for the autumn and you can view most of these events online at our website. We have listened to your survey requests and added some mainstream and family films as well as regular Sunday talks. Do please come and support these programmes.
Here at MBA we will do our best to get funding. We plan to re-submit to Awards for All, apply for smaller grants and organise various fundraising events around town. Please encourage others to join our mailing list and do consider becoming a volunteer. We know from our survey that MBA and Presteigne Assembly Rooms are a vital cultural lifeline for this community; help us keep going. Thank you to everyone who has already joined our Friends scheme and to those of you who support our events on a regular basis. We see and appreciate you.
